Take a Free Tour

What do Bryce Canyon USA, the Mariana Trench, New York City, and a castle in Germany have in common?

They are available to anyone with a pretty fast web connection (i.e. DSL or cable) and a decent computer as three-dimensional tour locations!

It's very cool. Try it at: http://www.airpano.com/

Is this file safe?

The explanation on the following link is a bit long, but it works. It's a way to test a file you have received BEFORE you open it. It allows you to make sure that the file does not contain any "bad guys."

Easy-To-Remember Techniques for Creating Strong Passwords

1. Your home zip code + your license plate number + your favorite color

2. The above in a different order.

3. The above with your pet's name(s) mixed in.

4. Take a favorite saying or first line of a song, and use the first letter of each word (My country tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing  =MctotSlolftIs)

5. Childhood phone number + mom's middle name

Of course, you can also use free services such as LastPass (which I use) to create and remember randomly generated passwords. I like LastPass www.lastpass.com
because I have collected ALL my passwords (for my computers, email accounts, website logins, phone, everything) in it...and can access it from any computer. All I have to do is remember ONE password (which I developed using one of the techniques above)...and then they are ALL there.

Check and Clean by July 1

Associated Press - Hundreds of thousands may lose Internet in July
By LOLITA C. BALDOR, Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) — For computer users, a few mouse clicks could mean the difference between staying online and losing Internet connections this summer.

Unknown to most of them, their problem began when international hackers ran an online advertising scam to take control of infected computers around the world. In a highly unusual response, the FBI set up a safety net months ago using government computers to prevent Internet disruptions for those infected users. But that system is to be shut down.

The FBI is encouraging users to visit a website run by its security partner, http://www.dcwg.org , that will inform them whether they're infected and explain how to fix the problem. After July 9, infected users won't be able to connect to the Internet.
